About Cropo's

Grandpa Cropo

Three Generations Strong

In 1955 Carl M. Cropo operated a Mobil, and later an Exxon gas station on Monroe Avenue. In 1975 he moved to a larger Texaco (later Sunoco) garage at 895 East Main Street right next to the Aud in the city (shown above) where he also offered AAA emergency road service. In 1990 his son Joseph B Cropo took over the business, and it was in these years that they dropped the gas business and began to focus on fleet service, maintenance and heavy repair. They rented space in the old New York State Armory's repair garage, and operated from both buildings as their business continued to grow. In 2000 they decided to build their own 7000 square foot facility in the suburb of Henrietta, just south of town. Cropo's became a three-generation family business when Joe II joined the firm in 2002. Today he - along with Joe Sr and his Mom Karen - continue to offer the same quality work and service that has been identified with the Cropo name in Rochester since 1955.
